Getting "Groceried"
Despite the fact that I was up to my eyeballs in stupid copy edits to make last night for work, I made my way to the grocery store. (Which is conveniently next to Jo-Ann Fabrics, so I could buy some craft crap I needed)
My new job is a lot closer to home and the grocery store and all so now when I get there, it's of the hour that a lot of other people are there. There are moms with their kids and women with their begrudging boyfriends. I happened to witness a whole lot of bitching at the store last night.
One exchange went like this.
Mom: I don't trust these kosher symbols! If it's not kosher they're going to make me take it back.
kid fidgets and scowls
Mom: STOP FIDGETING! HELP ME LOOK FOR KOSHER SYMBOLS!!
kid lays on floor of store
Mom: (Even louder than before) GET UP OFF THE FLOOR! GET UP OFF THE FLOOR! WE DON'T LIE ON THE FLOOR IN STORES! GET UP!
Whoa man. That kid's mom was a BITCH! I wanted to give the kid a knowing glance that said "someday you can trash the house when she goes away on vacation to get back at her for this." But I was afraid of the mom as much as he was. She was already giving me dirty looks.
Then there was the lady with her boyfriend who was arguing with him that she doesn't like bumble bee tuna she likes (more shouting) "CHUNK WHITE ALBACORE TUNA! CHUNK WHITE ALBACORE TUNA!"
Man, people loose their shit in the grocery store. It's so funny! I know of at least one occasion when I got in a fight with Chris at the grocery store and I'm still embarassed about it to this day. We were that couple. Ew.

I HATE THE GROCERY STORE. This is why most of my meals come from Taco Bell and/or mooching food from my brother and his girlfriend. It does make me happy, however, to go to the self cehkout lane and ring up my expensive green bell peppers as cheap jalepenos. Is that wrong?

I hate grocery shopping too... it is stressful! No wonder people get in fights there. Last week, I hit some poor woman with my shopping cart! I felt awful but it was so crowded. I almost cried.
I am seriously considering those delivery services!

I sound like I am one of the outsiders here, but I love the grocery store. It is one of those great stores where nothing is too expensive to be bought and I don't have to try anything on.

I love the grocery store too, when I have money. Otherwise I hate it cause all I can buy is Top Ramen and tomato soup :(
