Better to make the clap than to have it

Ah the Monday update! Were you waiting with baited breath? Yeah I didn't think so...

But anyway - knitting happened this weekend!

Here is another ankle sock that I finished. Now keep in mind that I never finished making the pair to that other ankle sock - so now I have two halves of two different pairs of socks. Will the other halves ever get made? Doubtful...

I've decided I'm not quite sold on the whole sock knitting thing. They don't fit in my shoes and they're a lot of work - but maybe if I find some nice yarn that does make a pair that fits in shoes...maybe. But for now I'll stick to other knitting.

I also started my Clapotis. I was just thinking that I could be pronouncing this wrong and no one is here to correct me because none of us actually talk to each other in person. Interesting.

Here's the beginning of the clap:

This picture doesn't really do the yarn justice. The yarn is purdy in person. It'll definitely need blocking when done. So far it's knitting up pretty fast, but I'm not sure I'm going to do all the increases.

So this weekend while I went to AC Moore to get some crafty scrapbook supplies, Chris went to a brew fest next to the Battleship NJ. Apparently it was hot and there were many tiny beers consumed. The boys ran into our friend Jaime and her husband Josh. Here's a great picture of Jaime enjoying a mini beer and ice cream sandwich - a match made in heaven...

After the boys got home from the brewfest we went out and grabbed dinner at...A BREWERY! That's where I proceeded to have some non-filling calamari and salad for dinner topped off by three IPA's. At which point we went home and I took a nice half-drunkie picture of myself.

And lastly and most random of all - I promised Jackie I'd put a picture of my wedding shoes up here for her. Here ya go.

Very pretty shoes - and cute socks - just wear each half around the house - no one will know. :)

Cute shoes!!! And the Clapper looks great. And you look like a hottie in that pic.

I totally know what you mean about the pronouncing - the first time I actually met knit bloggers, I was so excited to hear how other people pronounced "merino".

P.S. The sock is fabulous too. I think you're right - it's all about the right yarn.

Carrie is making me second guess the way i pronounce "merino". Is it NOT supposed to be pronounced like mer-ine-o? Hmmm...

Couldn't you wear those socks with your wedding shoes?

have you seen this? "The Knitting Machine is Dave Cole's performance art piece that uses construction equipment and 20-foot long knitting needles to construct large-scale objects. "
