I (Heart) Jeff Tweedy

Chris and I saw Wilco last night at Penns Landing at the Festival Pier. This is an outdoor venue on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. Wilco put on an amazing show with two encores and Jeff Tweedy was very chatty with the crowd. They played some older songs that I'm familiar with and newer ones that I'm not. I'm haven't been able to get into their new album...I saw them a couple of years ago on their YHF tour. They were both really good shows. It was nice to be outside and hear them play.
An added plus to seeing them at Penns Landing is that this is one of the few stops where My Morning Jacket opened up. They f-ing rock. They play live with this kind of 70's power rock vibe.

I don't think that's the band's lineup anymore, but they were really good at any rate. Yay for summer concerts!
This weekend is going to be filled with more invitation making and hopefully some BBQ somewhere. There's also a brewfest this Saturday that I believe is taking place on one of the historic docked ships in Camden. Although the idea of drinking many mini beers on an old battleship in 90 degree weather is appealing, I may leave this one to the boys to enjoy...

Ive recently become obsessed with ghost in the shell. My dear friend summarized the album as eloquenty as anyone I know. "It's beautiful noise", that it is, that it is.
I'm jealous you got to see them. I'm dying for thier next album.

WILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLCO!!! Jeff Tweedy kicks ass. My roommate said the funniest thing recently, something like, "I just want to give Jeff a hug". He just looks like a big teddy bear these days since he put on a little weight.
YHF kicks ass...but I can't quite get into A Ghost is Born yet. Some of it is really good (Muzzle of Bees) but some of it *does* just sound like noise.

I don't like A Ghost is Born either, except maybe Hell is Chrome, even though YHF is one of the best albums ever recorded. I've tried to get into My Morning Jacket many times but I can't do that either. Lately I'm obsessed with Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs. I can't stop listening to it. And the new Sufjan Stevens. But sadly, I have no concerts in my future.
I've never seen Wilco live. Even when they had a free concert here at the sculpture gardens a couple years ago, I skipped it. Dunno why.
