Home Ec

I've been working on a super secret crafty project for my bridesmaids that involves this:

and this:

Yes I totally suck at sewing. I always get a clear idea in my head of what I want to make and then when it gets to actually sewing it - it turns out crappy. Kind of like in Home Ec in 7th grade when I had to make a pair of shorts and they came out too tiny at the waist and huge in the legs. I'm not willing to venture into making clothing with my oddly proportioned body.

Knitting clothing, however is okay. Here is the front of my summer tank from "A Yarn Girl's Guide to Simple Knits."

On another note, did anyone see Dirty Jobs on Discovery last night. That is one hysterical show. There's this guy who trys doing all kinds of nasty jobs. Last night's involved picking up road kill, digging up golf balls that fell in the water hazards, and the best of all - collecting semen from a horse and then helping to artificially inseminate another horse with it! Gross.

It's supposed to be 97 degrees again today. I'm melting...melting...

Ooh can't wait to see the super secret project. It appears to also involve an iron. That's true friendship.

I'm baaaack!! I'll be able to read a few blogs per day now that I'm working again!! I love that you introduced your nephews to The Goonies. It's a classic. A few years ago, I worked at a group home for naughty teenage boys and I introduced them to....(get your mind out of the gutter)...Sixteen Candles. They loved it. None of them had ever seen it! I was shocked.

I imagine you sew much better than me.That dumb bug in a jar throw pillow I had to make in home EC,ridded me of any feelings of ever wanting to sew another thing in my life.Same with the extra, extra, extra large red sweatpants I made in the same class the only thing that saved me from failing Home EC miserably is cooking those yummy ritz pizza cracker appitizers.I really know how to put sauce on a ritz...A+++++
