Upward Facing Friday
So 6AM Friday yoga has become a habit for me. This morning was the test with getting up at 5:30 in the dark with it being really cold outside. For me the key is to lay out everything the night before - including my coat and keys. Anyway - I really enjoy getting up and going to the gym and doing yoga for an hour and a half. Today I got two treats - hershey's kisses from the teacher, and I did a headstand for the first time. Mind you, it was against the wall, and I kind of got stuck up there, but I've never done one before. I have to stop myself from trying to do one on my cube wall at work right now. I am going to do these all the time!

Kind of like this, if I was the dog, and there was no guy, and I was on my head. So basically, nothing like this.
Do any of you do yoga? It seems to be something knitters have in commom - like blogs and the Decemberists. Anyway - I'm not great at all the poses, so I definitely have work to do to get better, but I really like it.
On Sunday our friend JT runs a marathon in Philly. Wish him luck.
Have a good weekend everyone. Happy Friday!

I haven't ever done yoga, but when I was a kid I was the queen of handstands. I could walk on my hands for hours if the whole blood rushing to the head thing didn't get in the way. I bet I would like yoga if I gave it a shot

I do Bikram yoga. Well, I should say I *used* to do Bikram yoga. Since I haven't been in about 2 months or more, I don't think I can fairly lay claim to actually DOING it anymore. But geesh, I do have to get back into it. It is so great. HowEVER, I would never be able to do it at 6 a.m. My hat goes off to ya!
Thanks for leaving your pin in my map! I might not have found you otherwise. I LOVE the photo with the horse. Beautiful!

Love yoga. I've been a slacker now for about 6 months and haven't gone, but am hoping to get back into it after the holidays. It allowed me to go off antidepressants and make it through a really horrible health scare w/ my husband (I went to yoga while my husband was in surgery, per his prodding and encouraging)so I could keep my self together.

Yoga helped me quit smoking several years ago. When I was doing yoga, I never got sick...no cold, flu, etc. When I stopped...well, about 6 months later the immune system turned back to being craptacular, I got my first kidney stone, and I started smoking again. Yoga is awesome, and I am trying to stop slacking and get back to it.

I miss yoga so much. I used to go to a studio near my work, but then I changed jobs. I already have a pre-2006 resolution to start up again... there is a new place right near my house!
Wow, 6am yoga. Although I am up at that time, I don't think I could do yoga then!
Have a good weekend, J!

Dear yoga,
I wish we were better friends. I wish I had more time to spend with you, but I don't. I spend too much time with knitting, blogs and The Decemberists.

Where have i been on your blog?
I just realized I have not posted in forever...I am going to try not to get overwhelmed but I will start to chip away at getting my comments in...how else would you know I think you are the funniest person ever for the dog/guy/you/yoga comparison.
