Lessons Learned
At work, after a project is over, we often go over "lessons learned" both good and bad from a project. So here are some lessons learned from our most recent move.
- The neighbor kid likes to sing the Roxette song "Listen to Your Heart", but only knows a few of the lyrics. I found out I don't like hearing this lyric sung over and over and over again by a little girl with an Al Albert's* voice:
Listen to your heart
when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.
Someone stop her.
- The best part of moving somewhere is having your clothes go back to where they belong. Although it sems I am missing the box that contained most of my underware.
- Shopping for a washing machine is fun. This will be delivered tomorrow. W00t! We only got this fancy washer because the previous owner left the matching dryer for us.
- I like yard work. I've never had a yard of my own, so this is a new discovery. I like trimming trees and hopefully will like to plant flowers. We trimmed a tree yesterday and then a duck showed up on our lawn quacking and looking a little perturbed. I wonder if he missed the tree.
- I haven't knit for weeks. This is making me sad.
- The World Cup is on! Watch it!
*For those of you not in this area Al Albert's Showcase was a talent show that used to be on Sunday or Saturday mornings when I was little. I loathed it then and I loathe that type of talent show now.

ooh, new washing machine looks pretty! fun times. new appliances rock.
That kid is totally retro. Shouldn't she be singing Britney or 50 Cent or something?

I wish we took pix of our gymnastics/yoga session. And it wouldn't hurt you to show off your new *CLEAN* bathroom. (Although I would wear some sort of flip flop on bathroom floor, yikes)

I officially felt like an adult and a homeowner when I got excited about shopping for a gas stove, so I feel your excitement.

I thought Heart sang that song.
Crap. I am losing my 80's song identification ability.
It amazing how things are fun to do if they are for a house you own. I'm so happy for you. Perhaps you could pick up the needles whilst watching the World Cup.

It cracks me up the things we lose when we move. We lost all of our silverware the last time we moved (luckily it was cheap, but still, eating with your hands is not always the best way to go). Good luck finding your undies!

I know exactly what you mean about the new washing machine. Ours is still my favorite appliance. :)

maybe there's something wrong with me, but that washer is hot. i'm so jealous!
and that song sucks. when i was in high school, the neighbors' kids always sang the proclaimers "1000 miles." ugh!

I think there's a new version of that song that's on the radio recently......I have no CD player in the car and listen to lots of radio.....
Glad to hear you're settling in. I just found my bookmarks, finally. I moved in April 2005. But then, they are not as important as underwear.

Can you felt in that puppy? It sure is pretty!

I personally enjoy that song - but I probably wouldn't like a kid singing it over and over again either.
Glorious washing machine!

I'm sure the duck will like all the new work you are doing on your yard. When's the housewarming?

Oh my freaking god!!! AL ALBERTS!!!! I haven't heard that name in forever. The absolute most painful parts were the jokes. You know - when all the kids would sit around and tell really silly jokes. The whole thing was VERY CREEPY. Thanks for the memory!!!
