24 Hour Non-Party Person

So sometime last year, these day-in-the-life-of blog posts popped up on a few of the blogs I read. I always wanted to do one. You're supposed to take one picture an hour for a day (wake to sleep). So today I tried it.

I took 3 pictures.

Not so successful, but I'll walk you through my day anyhow since it was slightly amusing.

6:40 - Wake up and put put around the house
6:50 - Put in yoga DVD and do yoga DVD for a little while
7:15 - Mr. Lug's alarm goes off and I realize I have to get ready for work
7:30 - Mr. Lug's alarm goes off again
7:45 - Mr. Lug gets in shower
7:46 - I fast forward to relaxation pose
7:50 - Eat bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch to keep me regular **
8:00 - Get in shower and get ready for work
8:30 - Get in car with Mr. Lug to go to work

at work.

8:30 - 9:30 - boring work stuff...I'm all cracked out on yoga energy and very productive
Around 9:30 - go to ladies room to pee. Notice 3 coworkers are also in the bathroom. Flush toilet. Toilet is clogged. This is not my fault. Toilet water comes within a hair of over flowing. Wait until co-workers leave bathroom. Grab plunger from under sink. Think that this must happen often for the janitor to leave the plunger right in the bathroom. Plunge toilet. Wonder if lady who just walked in is wondering if I am playing in the toilet water. Crisis averted. Reflushing results in aversion of near disaster.**
9:30 - 5:30 - Eat snacks, eat lunch, work, go to meetings, work some more
5:30 - go to Lowes to buy my dad a powerwasher for his birthday tomorrow
6:30 - try to convince Mr. Lug that a peanutbutter sandwich or ice cream would be good for dinner. Lose arguement and end up cooking kielbasa, peppers, tomatoes, and egg noodles.
7:30 - Clean muddy footprints left by window installer off bathroom floor
8:15 - Sit down to eat snack, (yes I ate dinner an hour and a half ago, but it is time for a snack) blog, knit lady eleanor and read This Old House Magazine.

Tiny cheese balls...so yummy.

Wow. This is a good representation of an average day for me. I don't really mind that it's kind of boring. I mean I did almost have a toilet overflow on me. And I am enjoying a lovely snack of tiny cheese balls.

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday so I'll be going to my mom's house after work to eat dinner and give him the powerwasher. Fun times. I swear I am not boring. Okay, maybe I am boring, but what can you do? I don't feel bored, even if my blog entry reads like tax instructions. This is an action packed life i lead folks!

**These two events are NOT related.

Ridiculous TV Post

I feel that the quality of my blog entries has fallen into the basement lately, and I feel bad about that. I think everyone goes through this with blogging. I just don't feel like my life is interesting in a way that I can blog about right now. There are plenty of interesting things going on, but none that I feel comfortable getting into - they are too personal, or have to do with work. Quite frankly I haven't been knitting that much so I don't have as much to post on that front. So here I am, writing about the thing that I have been doing a lot of lately - watching TV...I spend a lot of time doing it. Well as much time as you can spend watching TV when you work as much as I seem to lately. So here are some people I've seen on TV that interest me right now.

First there is this couple who are in a commercial I saw for the first time tonight advertising their motorcycle shop. I wish that all of you lived in my area so you could see this train wreck of a commercial. Thanks to Tivo Mr. Lug and I were able to play this a number of times. The lady pictured in that photo ends the commercial wearing a pink leather chaps, biker jacket, and cowboy hat combo. Go to Sam's. Tell them Debbie sent ya.

For some reason this reminds me of the time Chris and i went to the Bahamas and this guy who looked just like a fatter, trashier Kid Rock was on the resort with us. One night during karaoke he got up and sang Little Red Corvette and the host of Karaoke kept saying "give it up for Kid Rock, Man! Kid Rock!"

But I digress.

I also would like to hang out wtih Kayne and Robert from Project Runway. They are my imaginary friends.

Then there is Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs. I think this is one of the best shows on TV right now.

Okay I am also catching up on Grey's Anatomy on DVD. I finished watching season one and am now eagerly awaiting the release of season 2 on DVD.

You'd think with all this tv watching I'd get more knitting done, but you'd be wrong. Update on Lady Eleanor to come.

Exile in Blogville

Okay - so I shouldn't have just disappeared like that for a whole week or so, but look at all that happened while I was gone!

Most importantly I cast on for Lady Eleanor. Can I tell you I love this pattern? It's the bees knees and will be perfect for wearing in the office where I usually freeze my arse off.

Back in a week or so

Work is blowing up. We have four different contractors coming to the house in the next 2 weeks. We're dogsitting this week. So I'm going to take a little blogging break. I'll be back in a week or two hopefully with pictures of a new and improved house and our adventures in dogsitting.

Where Did I Go?

Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay, Where did you go now? Where did you go? - Axl Rose

Um yeah. I haven't really been anywhere that explains my blogging absence, but I did go to knitting group last night where I finished the other side of my tank top. Now it's just block, seam, crochet edge and viola I'm done.

There are two bloggers at my knitting group now. Did I mention this already? Jessica and Emily. Woot. I am no longer the lone blogger. Now I, like many of you, can have actual real-life knitting buddies with blogs.

I also went to the LYS and bought the yarn to make Lady Eleanor, which I plan to cast on for tonight.

Other than that, I've mostly been watching Project Runway (does anyone else hate Angela? Hello! Can't stand her!) and watching Chris work on the house. Let's say I've been doing more watching watching and less "doing" lately.

And here I am, in case you miss me, contemplating the age old question "If I sleep at work and no one sees me, am I really sleeping?"

Pop Quiz

fridge.jpg

What is this object?

    A.) A refrigerator
B.) A cheaply made piece of crap
    C.) A large paperweight
D.) A hole in which money will get sucked in and disappear
    E.) B, C, and D.

If you guessed E, you're right! Give yourself a round of applause. Okay so actually I really like this fridge, but it is indeed broken in a big way despite only being 4 years old. Good thing the lady that used to live here left us a filthy-crumb-and-unidentifiable-gooey-substance-laden "beer fridge" in the garage. See let me back track my friends to us buying this house. We thought the lady would take the unappealing fridge in the garage with her to whatever soon-to-be-filthy home she moved into. Much to our surprise the refrigerator was here at closing. When we met the former owner at closing she told us that she had left it for us to use as a beer fridge. My first thought was "what did the beer do to deserve living in that fridge?"

But back to the current situation. Our refrigerator broke so we had to move food into the disgusting "beer fridge" in the garage. Needless to say, I cleaned the beer fridge. One bucket of soapy hot water, a little gagging, and some tears later, we moved the food to the beer fridge, where it will live until the other part comes in so our repair man can fix it.

This is just one piece of the mounting evidence that we have that helps us prove that the former owner of our house was a big dirtbag. The evidence so far:

  • Carpet wet with dog pee (from the 3 dogs she owned) when we moved in - had to be ripped out

  • Every wall needs to be painted to cover up the dingy brown color they are now

  • We found 7 bouncy balls in the english ivy that we removed from the side of the house

  • Every set of curtains I threw out in the house was yellow - though they were originally white

  • When I wiped down the walls in the house, the water ran down in greyish streaks

  • It's easier to replace four of the windows in our home than clean them

  • There was at least 10 years of old leaves built up and composting under our deck and in every flower bed

Oh the list goes on and on. My Catholic guilt makes me have to state that I'm sure she was a nice lady, but I just can't get over her dirtbag ways.

But to end on a happy note I call this photo "Mr. Lug does dishes with mask on."
