There's No Place Like (the) Home (bowl)

I just wrote this entry once and hit refresh on accident. Sonofabitch! Dag.

Anyway...

So this week has been a trying on in terms of work for me. Lots of overtime, lots of stress. But things at home have been going well. Mr. Lug and his dad worked on our house this week. They did many things to improve the loveliness of our humble abode, but most importantly they replaced the toilet in the master bathroom. Our master bathroom is the size of a small linen closet and the woman who lived here before us was absolutelybatshitcrazy so it quite resembled a gas station bathroom. The original toilet was tan with a wooden seat that had recently cracked in half. So that went in the garbage and our new lovely toilet was installed with an extravagant $22 toilet seat. Oh we are now relieving ourselves in luxury. There's no expense to be spared when it comes to the home bowl is my philosophy. No where else can you truly be yourself - relaxed, and composed as you can on the home bowl. It fills my heart with glee and brings a tear to my eye.

I love you

On the baby Lug front - I went to my 16 week checkup. I find these checkups a little unsatisfactory as they consist of the nurse taking my blood pressure, me attempting to pee in a cup unsuccessfully*, and the doctor putting the doppler (10000?) on me to hear the baby's heartbeat (which by the way is normal according to the doctor), and finishes with the doctor looking at me like "get the heck outta here." I find this a little annoying because since I can't feel the baby yet, this is my only check to see how the sucker is doing. And I get very little information every time. This time the doctor said "yup, there's a baby in there!" Oh thank you Dr. SuperFunnyMan for your insight into my baby's well being. Meanwhile there could be a million things going on in there. At any rate we find out if it's baby-girl lug or baby-boy lug in 4 weeks and hopefully at that point I'll get more information than "yup there's a baby in there."

16 week belly - what the hell is going on in there?

Interesting happenings this weekend...

I totally forgot it was Rhinebeck this weekend. I hope you knitty bloggers all have great times meeting up there. I totally should have gone, but just couldn't swing it. I had so much fun last year and at Maryland this year so I'm sure everyone had a blast again. I wish I could've been there!

I'm making a pot roast right now. I've never been a big red meat eater, but let me tell you that whatever this baby is, it makes me want to eat red meat and drink decaf frappuccinos non-stop. Weirdness. The doc said I only gained 6 pounds so far total, so I feel justified that my extremely large belly is just the result of all the extra weight in my entire body migrating to my stomach. Good times.

And finally in my extended entry I end with a meme stolen from Carrie.

* I have to pee all the time. As soon as I get in my doctor's office my bladder refuses to function. I am left attempting to pee and only having an embarrassingly tiny amount in the stupid cup. This last time I actually asked for a glass of water before my appointment. Then after the appointment I tried to pee and yep, still nothing. I don't get it.

French Toast Fantasy and Mike on the Can

Have you noticed that there has been a real increase in white-boy Asian-girl couples on TV commercials lately? There's the Sherwin Williams commercial and the Home Depot tool commercial and a bunch of other commercials I've seen. White boys and Asian Girls are apparently the new skinny jeans. Seriously. I've never been so hip.

Another thing about my weekend in Rochester. I got up after going to bed to use the bathroom. The boys were in a state of disarray - all drunk and playing Guitar Hero. I had to pee very bad. Josh and Shawn were wrestling and Mike was in the bathroom. I could hear him talking though so I figured out that he was ON THE PHONE. Josh kindly barged in the bathroom to tell him the pregnant lady had to pee. It doesn't sound funny, but it was funny. You can take my word for it or you can see the photographic evidence.

Also - thanks to all of you on your great comments on baby Lug and how I am a cute pregnant lady. I'm trying to enjoy the process and not obsess over if everything is developing okay in there. Despite my cuteness people have been expressing their surprise at how big I am for four months (almost 16 weeks). For example: the last time I saw my mom she kept proclaiming "You're so big! Why are you so big?! Debbie (my sister) why is she so big! You're only 15 weeks! How can you be so big?!" This of course comes from the mouth of my 5'3" tiny mom who weighed all of 110 lbs my whole life. I know she isn't being mean and hey, I am pregnant but I thought I'd post another picture of me without the horizontal stripe shirt to show how large I really am.

Okay - so what? So maybe I am big for 4 (ALMOST 5 PEOPLE!) months! Whatever. Just because I love french toast fantasy from iHop I am not ashamed. Being pregnant is very odd.

So I have to say there hasn't been much knitting on this blog and now that I'm pregnant and out I'll probably post a lot about that. Hope ya'll don't mind. I'll still try to keep up with the knitting posts - especially once I start knitting again - which will hopefully be soon...

Big Bellies are Hot

This weekend we went to visit our friend Shawn in Rochester, NY for his 30th birthday. There I discovered the best video game ever - Guitar Hero - where you get to play songs on a little toy guitar. Kind of like DDR but with a toy guitar. So. Fun.

Josh and Mike are guitar heros

The next day Shawn had a party in a park where I could not drink beer, for I am knocked up.

Mr. Lug could drink beer.

I cannot bring myself to be one of those people who won't let their husbands drink either when they're pregnant. One, because I'd feel bad and two, because I don't have the superhuman strength it would take to convince him he should be sober alongside me at these parties.

Also, there was a game of ladder golf. I had not heard of this game, but it is fun. You throw golf balls and try not to hit each other in the privates with them.

All in all the men got drunk and ended up farting and punching each other in the ass and groin all night. Good times for them. Silly boys.

The Toof

And nothin but the toof...

Truth Number 1:
The Gilmore Girls this season? Questionable folks. And i am a HUGE GG fan. But this season? I'm just not so sure about. The show is under new *management* and I'm afraid it's not quite the same. Is it over between us? Perhaps - because I have a new TV show love in my life. Grey's Anatomy. I started watching this show on DVD and I have to tell you I'm hooked. HOOKED on it!

Truth Number 2:
Knitting and Crocheting and all things crafty have come to a screeching halt in my house. I have about 5 or 6 projects started, but none near finished.

Truth number 3:
I've been keeping something from you folks. The real reason that:
I haven't been knitting
I've been eating such crap
I stopped doing yoga
I'm not helping around the house
I'm crabby
I'm saving money
I'm not fitting in any of my clothes
Is that...

There's a little Lug on the way.

That's right - I know you all thought that the Lugs didn't participate in such tawdry activities but I am officially "Baby Momma" and I'm announcing it now. Most friends/family already knew, but I thought I'd wait a little bit to announce it to the blogosphere. A little lug should be joining us near the 1st of April. I'm out and I'm proud. Now I can finally blog about the joys of pregnancy and my fears of impending motherhood. But mostly I'll probably just keep blogging about how the Gilmore Girls is looking sucky this season and how I'm sad I can't go to Rhinebeck! Belly pictures and all that fun stuff to come soon...
