Holy Crap

Is this two entries in a one-week span? Wow. Being off really does put me in a zen like state of blogging and eating. I've spent this week spending gift cards, sitting on the couch, cleaning, eating, and playing this game:

If you or your loved one has an XBox 360 you may want to get this game. Or, you may not want to for fear of never seeing daylight again. This game is like crack people. Really.

And I'm excited to say I've also been knitting. I feel so close to my normal knitting self now! I'm actually able to knit more than a few rows at a time without my pregnant lady mind wandering off or falling asleep. It's very exciting.

That's an update on the lady eleanor I started months ago. This may have even been started pre-pregnancy. Anyway - I'd say I'm about halfway or almost halfway done. I still enjoy knitting this and maybe will even get to wear it while it's cold out. (Whenever that happens. Seeing as I could wear some capris now if I wanted to, with this weather. )

And here is the first ever baby lug knitting project:

babylug.jpg

It's a cabled hooded cardigan from this baby knitting pamphlet I think I picked up in the grocery store. I can be persuaded to buy strange things in the grocery store like knitting pamphlets and Enteman's pound cake. Speaking of baby purchases, today I actually bought the baby some clothes at Old Navy. That would be my first baby purchase so far. I've been a little hesitant to start buying baby stuff for both superstitious reasons, and also for fear that it'll start a baby-stuff-buying-bonanza that I won't be able to stop.

I think I said last time that I'd chronicle some gifts I got for Christmas. I'm kind of a dork and asked for a mailmate shredder for Christmas. You do not know the joy it brings me to shred junk mail into tiny pieces.

Screw you Discover card! No I do NOT want to subscribe to W magazine! haha! Take that junk mail!

I also got a belgian waffle maker because I love waffles right now. Do you know that making waffles with a waffle maker is a real bitch? Well take my word for it. Especially when you don't have waffle mix and you make it the recipe that came with the waffle maker that involves separating eggs and whipping egg whites. It's a dang mess. Waffle batter pouring out the sides, half of the waffle stuck to the top and half to the bottom. I had to call in Mr. Lug to help me make them before I had a pregnant lady melt down. Luckily we made it through and the waffles were tasty. Hopefully with the purchase of a box of waffle mix the process will go more smoothly next time.

I also got a gift card for a bookstore and purchased these:

I'm so behind the times on the Mason Dixon Knitting book. Dag! There's a ton of stuff in there I want to make and I hope to log cabin a baby blankie before the baby lug makes an appearance. And the one skein wonder book will help with the stashbusting that is going around. That plush o rama book looks so cute and has some projects in it I hope to make, but no promises as Viva Pinata, napping, and knitting are now taking up my free time and work is around the corner!

Whew, that was a long one...

Ho Ho Ho

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! Holiday festivities for me started a week or two ago at the party where my college friends and I get together. Here I am with my white elephant gift.

I accidentally lost my camera for a few days after that party, so I thought I'd wait to post until I got it back during the holidays. So this is my picture filled post. I'll have to update on holiday loot in my next post, as well as actual knitting that's been taking place!

Every year Mr. Lug and I spend Christmas Eve at my parent's house and Christmas day with his family. Christmas Eve we got to eat a ton of food and Chris, my brother in law and my nephew entertained themselves in the way they do best...video games.

We all got gifts, including the baby lug, who received a bunch of Red Sox gear from my brother-in-law! We'll have to balance that out with some Phillies gear. Here I am trying to show the baby the world's tiniest Red Sox booties.

Christmas Day we get to see our 9 other nieces and nephews and watch them open gifts. One of our nephews got a power rangers outfit and he rocked it folks. He rocked it hard.

I'm taking some much needed time off this week from work during which I will sit on my couch and get rounder by the day. The baby is kicking so much more now and I'm feeling less and less mobile. Only, um, 13 weeks to go. Oh God, is that right? 13 weeks? Oh boy.

Quick Before I Fall Asleep Again

I promised myself that I wouldn't blog until I finished some knitting. Low and behold I did! It's no great shakes, but I finished my Irish Hiking Scarf. This scarf started as a stash busting project a few months back, and it's finally done, thank god. It was easy to knit, but a little monotonous on smaller needles with, let's face it, not the most exciting yarn.

So here she is - knit up on size 6 needles with some Cascade 220 that I believe was gifted to me! Yay for gifts.

I went for my 24 week baby check up today and everything is sailing along so far. Being pregnant is truly an odd experience. I can now feel the baby lug kick me pretty consistently although he stops as soon as anyone tries to bear witness - especially Mr. Lug. Baby Lug will not perform for us. He will not be our monkey.

Today the nurse told me I've gained 19 lbs so far. Yikes. But I know you all will tell me that it's nothing and it will melt off like the polar ice caps once the baby gets here. One can dream. So yes, I am gaining girth by the day and can no longer bend at the waist, I am barely getting through my work day without passing out under my desk and mostly I am not intelligent enough these days to come up with witty things to say on this blog, so I try to keep the rambling to a minimum. All in all I feel fine, if tired and slightly mentally challenged.

And on a Christmas-y note, we put up our tree a few weekends ago and here is some tree blng to keep you in the holiday spirit. Ho-ho-ho.
